What is RESPIRON

RESPIRON was specifically developed for general pulmonary infection prevention, stimulating the person to perform forced and deep inspiration, making pulmonary ventilation easier, preventing the formation of atelectasis areas, impeding the bronchiole obstruction, and distending the pulmonary alveolus.

Because the use of RESPIRON causes a visible effect (the lifting of spheres contained in the appliance) there is a ludic component in the exercise that represents a challenge to the person: to be able to lift the 3 spheres, (with several difficulty levels) and maintain them lifted for a few seconds. There is, therefore, an incentive for the patient, which justifies the expression “incentive breather”.

It is a low cost appliance, easy to use and with scientifically proven efficiency, the same or superior to much more expensive and high-tech equipment. It presents some additional features that make the exercise easier (very useful for debilitated patients or children) and/or volumetric with incomparable higher cost.
It is not exactly “dischargeable” because it can be used several times, but it is of “individual use”, that is, it should not be used by more than one patient because of the risk of infectious disease spread.

In case of surgery, it is recommended that the patient take the appliance when leaving the hospital to continue the breathing exercises at home.

Instructions:

1.keep the appliance in its packaging when not in use.
2.wash the nozzle before and after each exercise session.
3.adjust the nozzle to the lips and inhale (do not blow) through it in a way to sequentially lift the three spheres in the appliance, keeping them lifted for a few seconds.
4.when you conclude the inspiration, remove the nozzle from your lips and exhale naturally.

Regulating system:

To rate the exercise difficulty, turn the regulating ring using the anterior lever, the posterior one or both. The anterior lever moves under a scale (0 – 1 – 2 – 3) and works with a pointer, indicating the exercise difficulty rate.
- pointer positioned at “0”: easy
- pointer positioned at “l”: regular
- pointer positioned at “2”: difficult
- pointer positioned at “3”: very difficult
It is a continuous variation system: all the intermediary positions are possible, also enabling intermediary difficulties.

After going through the last step, the exercise difficulty can still be increased: you only need to lift the spheres and maintain them lifted for a few seconds.

This appliance is a breathing EXERCISER.
It is not adequate to MEASURE the flow or pulmonary capacity.

HRESPIRON´s cleaning

1. RESPIRON is manufactured with totally inert materials (polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene). Not even glue is used so that it does not become culture: the whole assembly is done by welding and ultrasound.

2. If used the conventional way (inspiratory movements), only the atmospheric air flows through the appliance’s interior. Because it cannot be used by different patients in any way, there is no necessity for care beyond the ones in the instructions (wash the nozzle before and after each exercise session). In fact, this is the same care that would be taken with home appliances like spoons, glasses, toothbrushes, etc. Taking the precautions to an extreme, the cleaning could be done with Hydrosteril (10 drops/1 liter of water) or Aqua tabs (1 tablet/20 liters of water), found in drugstores and pharmacies.

3. The appliance was not projected for expiratory exercises, but we know it is very much used this way (with the appliance upside down and blowing instead of inhaling). Then there is the inconvenience of water condensation, proceeding from the user’s lungs, in the internal walls. The appliance when used this way cannot be used for conventional exercises (inspiratoty movements), nor by the same user.

The cleaning can be done periodically with the same products described above, dipping the whole appliance. It is necessary that it be dried completely to go back to using it: even though it should only be used for blowing exercises, the patient could, inadvertently, aspire. Then little drops of water could be inhaled together with the atmospheric air. Since there is no access to the inside of the appliance, you should remove the liquid excess and let it dry in a ventilated place, preferably protected by a fabric “cover” that does not block ventilation.
